Check how much you have
For each place your files live, write down the size in GB or TB and how far back the files go. Here’s how to check in the tools most shops use.
Submit it
Online, just hit Submit. Using the PDF? Reply to our email with it, plus any storage report from your IT team. We get your files priced and call you to go over your offer.
The online form works on your phone, but it’s quicker on a computer where your files are. Send this page to yourself and open it there.
How to check how much you have
Tap the ones your shop uses. A rough number is fine. If you can’t find a size, a file count or “not sure” works too.
A folder on WindowsMost shop files live here
- Right-click the folder and choose Properties.
- Wait a few seconds for Size to stop counting. That number is what we need.
- For a whole drive or server share, open This PC, right-click the drive, then Properties.
A folder on a Mac
- Click the folder once, then press Command + I (or File, then Get Info).
- The size is next to Size at the top.
Shop server or NASSynology, QNAP, a Windows server
- On a Windows server, check the shared folder the same way: right-click, Properties.
- On a Synology or QNAP, open Storage Manager to see used space, or ask whoever set it up for the size of each shared folder.
SolidWorks, Inventor and other CADIncluding PDM vaults
- If your models are in normal folders, check the folder size.
- If you use a PDM vault, ask whoever runs the PDM server for the size of the vault archive folder. A rough number is fine.
Fusion 360 and other cloud CADFiles live in Autodesk's cloud
- Open the Data Panel and note how many projects you have and roughly how many designs.
- A count is fine if you can't find a size. Write it in the Notes column.
Mastercam, Esprit and other CAM
- Find the folder where you save programs, then check its size.
- To count them, open the folder, type *.mcam in the search box, and the count shows at the bottom.
G-code on machines or a DNC system
- If programs are sent from a DNC computer, check the size of its program folder.
- If programs only live on the machines, a rough count per machine is fine.
JobBOSS, E2, ProShop, Epicor and other ERP
- Ask whoever manages it for the database size.
- If nobody knows, just tell us which year you started using it.
Outlook or Microsoft 365 email
- An admin can sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center, then go to Reports, Usage, Exchange, Mailbox usage to see total storage used.
Gmail or Google Workspace
- An admin can sign in to admin.google.com and open Storage to see total used across Gmail and Drive.
Before you start
Do I send any files now?
No. The form is just a list of what you have and how much. Nothing is copied or shared unless you agree in writing.
What about customer files or work under NDA?
Write it in the form. Those can be left out, and defense or ITAR work is always left out.
What if I don’t know a number?
Leave it blank or write “not sure”. We’ll go over it on the call.
Who sees this form?
Just us and our data partner.
